tickets are booked!!

on monday night, we booked flights for the first 7 months of our trip! used bootsnall.com to plan our itinerary, finally settled on a general route after months of thought, and were contacted by the awesome deborah from airtreks.com to actually make the bookings.

our itinerary:

1. depart deer lake (canada) feb 11, route through toronto and los angeles. 8 hr stop in los angeles.

2. arrive nadi (fiji) on feb 13, depart feb 14

3. arrive christchurch (new zealand) on feb 14. tour for 2 months, making our way north to auckland.

4. depart auckland (nz) mar 30

5. arrive sydney (australia) on mar 30. tour for 2 months, making our way north to cairns.

6. depart cairns (aus) may 31

7. arrive singapore (singapore) on may 31. hang out for a week or so. make our way northwest to kuala lumpur.

8. depart kuala lumpur (malaysia) jun 24

9. arrive bangkok (thailand) on jun 24. tour around se asia (laos in particular) for 2 months.

10. depart bangkok aug 20

11. arrive amman (jordan) on aug 21

12. depart amman aug 31

13. arrive istanbul (turkey) on aug 31

and we're not sure from there. since 9/11, you can only book up to 300 days in advance. so we plan to travel around turkey for a few weeks and make our way west through europe. our wallets will decide what next. we really want to get to south america and spend a few months in argentina, chile, uruguay, and brazil. we'll see!

this series of tickets only cost us $3700 Canadian!! which we think is a fabulous deal given the distance we are flying.

p.s. tina feels really really crap about the carbon footprint. but not bad enough to not go...
